Established in 1982, The Transitional Learning Center (TLC) at Galveston, Texas, is a pioneer in the field of brain injury rehabilitation. TLC provides survivors of brain injury with special rehabilitation services needed to re-enter the community.
TLC is located in the heart of a charming, historic neighborhood, complete with beautiful Victorian homes and palm trees, yet only a short walk from the delights of the beach. TLC’s proven approach encompasses our tri-fold mission of treatment, research, and education in the field of post acute brain injury rehabilitation. Clients at TLC enjoy a natural setting for their rehabilitation. Most clients live on-site, which allows the treatment team to observe behaviors and abilities first hand, 24 hours a day.
TLC’s program provides a full continuum of care. Lower level, more medically complex clients may begin their program in one of our lower-functioning pathways and then transition to one of our community re-entry programs as their function improves. On-and off-site apartments provide higher functioning clients the ability to practice independent living in a safe environment.
